The Washingtownship Food Pantry was established in 1985 when LVPC was worshiping on West Mill Rd. Food was collected in a laundry basket and delivered to people in need. How we have grown!
When LVPC moved into its new facility on Bartley Road in 1987 do did the The Food Pantr. As first, the Food Panty was housed in a room downstairs, but as the need has continued to grow so has the need for storage space. The Food Pantry now uses other areas of the church facility during the holiday seasons when the need is greatest.
The Pantry is open every Monday from 10 till Noon, as well as the 1st and 3rd Monday evenings from 6 till 7:30 pm.
Weekly volunteers work, shelve food contirbutions and shop for fresh produce, meat, poultry and eggs to supplement canned items. Currently, approximately 1500 bags of groceries are given out yearly.
All of this is accomplished from donations of cash, food drives and parishioner donations.
